The Background

Liskeard School & Community College had been operating under Cornwall County Council for the first 4 years I had worked there. In 2017 the school joined forces with other schools in the region to become an academy, joining with Looe, Saltash, Landulph, Dobwalls and Trewidland schools to become the South East Cornwall Multi Academy Regional Trust (SMART).

I was commissioned to build the website after my skills were put forward to the newly structured trust board by the head teacher at Liskeard, with me being the most technically astute staff member from a web and marketing perspective in the whole trust.

The Result

The project was managed by the trust board and the student leaders which led to a frustrating experience at times. I did, however, learn a lot from the project and the complexities involved with non-technical stakeholders taking charge of a web project. A website was produced initially without a recognised logo and corporate branding, which led to its own difficulties, and was produced to an immensely tight timescale alongside my normal duties.

The website is built in the WordPress content management system and is currently maintained by myself and and a member of staff at saltash.net community school.
