Revalidation Research Website

Technology used: HTML, CSS, PHP, JQuery, PCMDs Bespoke CMS

The site no longer exists as all future PCMD websites were absorbed into Sharepoint

The Background

During my time at the Peninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry I worked on many web and marketing projects. In the wake of a number of high profile incidents within the medical industry, including Dr Harold Shipman, the medical industry was ordered to carry out thorough investigations and vetting of all medical practitioners, a process that is to this day known as revalidation.

A research Fellow at the Peninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry formed a revalidation research group in partnership with The Health Foundation to establish best practice, share news and scholarly documents and findings from the group to begin, establish and develop the revalidation process across the medical profession.

I was tasked with building the website, working alongside the research fellow and to allow the client to update news and articles to the site on demand.

The Result

The website was hard coded in HTML and CSS and used PHP to make the pages dynamic and create the contact form and JQuery for the home page slider. PHP was also used to link the website to PCMDs bespoke CMS.

The project was of critical importance to the college and the future of revalidation so it was important to get the website right. Using PRINCE2 project management techniques and the waterfall software development framework that allowed for iterations within the stages ensured the project was on target to meet requirements throughout.

The site was handed over to the client at the end of the project so needed to be built within PCMDs CMS, especially as critical updates and news needed to be shared in real time.
